Brit docent Mick showcases the British "Spitfire" airplane. Doris saw many similar US planes take off from carriers which she watched from the decks and portholes of the USS Comfort. The hospital ship was the forward-most hospital ship moving into enemy territory and participated in many beachheads in convoy. The small planes took off about ½ hour after the bombers. The spitfire-type planes were so much faster than the bombers they would catch up and outpace them as offense on the way to the bombers' targets.
